For a long time, some of us- past pupils of Loreto House, had this dream…. to set up an association of old students of Loreto House School( Calcutta) . Our vision was two-fold - firstly, we wanted to re-establish links between old school friends which had frayed due to the vagaries of time and distance and secondly to get together to do something constructive for our beloved alma mater and for community service.

With this purpose in mind, a meeting was held on 06th July 1985 with Sr. Eileen in the chair. Sr. Eileen commented that we had chosen no better a year than 1985 to start the association as it was the 400th birth centenary of Mary Ward - the founder of the Loreto Order.

In 1986 our dream became a reality. After much paperwork and leg work, we were registered and the Loreto House Alumnae Association was born.

Our memorandum clearly defines our aims and objectives. Our Alumnae Association is dedicated to the service of our Alma Mater--- LORETO HOUSE. Initially, when our Executive Committee was born, the Principal of Loreto House (school) was nominated as the ex officio President of the Executive Committee. The only exception to this rule was the 1st president of our Executive Committee who was Justice Manjula Bose when Sr. Ursula was the Principal of the school. Today the equation is slightly different, the Principal of Loreto House is deemed to be the Chief Patron of the Association. This helps us to keep in close touch with the school.
